With our son's anxiety over trying something new . . . and, potentially dangerous (rightly so!), losing the training wheels seemed almost as if it was a losing battle.

However, as I mentioned before, in times when we need some back-up, I turn to books or YouTube. After watching several videos on YouTube, I came across a great tutorial by the Family Fun Pack (link provided with their generous permission).
We watched it as a family and it provided our son with a visual example of what could be achieved by following the steps. In no time he was screaming down the hills in our neighborhood and I was running behind him praying he didn't bottom out in a cactus patch all while keeping up the pretense that I was just jogging and keeping my cool. He was very proud of his success and I have heard him recommend the technique to several of his friends!
If you're having some barriers to getting those training wheels off in a way that provides security, confidence and assurance in your kid's achievement, this video is kid tested AND kid approved!
