Why we're here
I was inspired to start this blog when, on a recent family vacation, our 9-year-old son had a meltdown (albeit small) in front of another family. Their reaction was one of disdain and judgement prompting us to have a family meeting with our son about how he wanted to handle such situations in the future. This experience brought back so many memories of times when less than satisfactory interactions have occurred in our lives and how they have shaped our family and our parenting. I constructed this as a "Letter from the Spectrum Life" and I hope, by sharing it, others will feel empowered to show a little more kindness in situations they do not fully understand.
We hope this site can serve as a place where people can share stories and ideas and gain strength from one another.
Our neuropsychologist told us that our son has "many flavors" . . . and we embrace the flavors!
